A five-minute walk from Hankyu Kawaramachi Station, Kinmata feels like stepping into old Kyoto. This family-run Kyoto ryori inn has been welcoming guests for over 200 years, and its Meiji-era machiya was designated a Kyoto Tangible Cultural Property in 2001. Inside, a serene courtyard and antique wooden furnishings set a calm, intimate mood. Dinner changes monthly—a long-standing tradition—so there’s always something seasonal to discover. The current chef is known for Kyoto vegetables, sourcing the best of the season along with carefully chosen seafood from the Japan Sea, Seto Inland Sea, and Pacific. Beautiful Kyoyaki, Imari, and Kutani ware complete the experience.
